Advocate Satyam Surana has filed a formal complaint with the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, against comedian Samay Raina and others for allegedly publishing and distributing obscene and explicit content. The complaint cites Sections 294, 295, and 296 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, calling for the registration of an FIR.
A copy of the complaint has also been forwarded to Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Surana expressed concerns about the impact of such content on societal values, questioning the influence of certain public figures.
Surana specifically referred to a controversial statement attributed to Samay Raina, “Agar koi aakar Porn shoot karega toh maja aaega,” emphasizing the degradation of morality and ethics among some influencers. He criticized Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia for their actions under the guise of comedy, calling their behavior “a new pervert level.”
The controversy also extends to an incident involving a public stunt on the show India’s Got Latent, which Surana described as a “total trash show” unfit for broadcasting. He has called for the government to take stringent action against such platforms. Further updates on the case and the authorities’ response are awaited.
